Gerry Montcalm has been employed in the financial services industry for 36 years and for the past 17 years as an independent financial advisor, specializing in financial planning, employee insurance and retirement benefits.

Gerry has a level II life and disability insurance and mutual funds license. He is a registered member of Advocis (The Financial Advisors Association of Canada) www.advocis.ca and is currently concentrating on completing his Certified Employee Benefit Specialist Designation” C.E.B.S., a prestigious employee benefit industry designation offered through Dalhousie University. This program’s three sub designations include “Group Benefits Associate” “Retirement Plans Associate” and “ Compensation Management Specialist”.

His unique approach in assisting employers with their employee benefits package has him conducting seminars in both official languages and insisting on sitting with each individual member to complete paperwork to ensure their full understanding of their benefits package.

Employers benefit from years of research and analysis on cost containment & unique plan design options for their benefit plans. His individual and corporate clients benefit from his experience in banking, investments, insurance, taxes, estate and succession planning.

Gerry believes in an “educate the participants approach” where a special long term relationship is developed and enriched with his clientele. “We enhance our client’s human resource department’s service delivery. Gerry has lived in Moose Creek east of Ottawa most of his life with his wife, Huguette,  who has just retired from a 34 year career as an analyst with Statistics Canada.  Huguette is now a big help with research for the office.  Their son Steven, is a Assistant Vice-President & Commercial Account Executive with Marsh Canada, the largest insurance brokerage firm in Canada, he works closely with his Dad and shares mutual clients.  His area of expertise is Fleet "Transportation" Insurance. Their daughter Celine, A Queens University Commerce Graduate, recently completed her Masters in Business Administration at York University and is employed as a Business Performance Manager in Finance with Rivera Retirement Living in Ottawa.  Gerry & Huguette enjoy being grandparents, playing golf and spending time at the lake. 

Gerry has served two terms as an elected official in municipal government to represent his community’s interests and chaired several multi-million dollar infrastructure projects. “My experience in health care benefits was especially helpful in chairing the building committee of our medical center and in attracting two very successful family doctors to our town.”
